Fringe renewed for season 4

Fringe renewed for season 4: "
Fringe

Fears that Fringe may be on its way out have been proven false. For Fringe season 4 will be going ahead…

While several other genre shows have struggled over the past year or two (No Ordinary Family, FlashForward, Dollhouse), the one that's really grown has been Fringe.

Overcoming an uneven first season that saw it relying a little too heavily on the monster of the week mechanic, seasons two and three have been really very strong. Packed with excellent storytelling, some tremendous ideas, and the genius creation that is Walter Bishop, Fringe has become must-see television.

Earlier this year, it was moved to the Friday night death slot in the States, the place in the schedules where, more often than not, shows don't tend to survive in. And yet, Fringe may just have proven the exception to the rule.

For it's now been confirmed that the show has, indeed, won itself a fourth season run. The news was dropped via the Twitter feed of executive producer Joel Wyman, who simply wrote 'Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!'

It's unclear, thus, how many episodes season four will have, but the news here is nonetheless good. Fringe will, indeed, be returning again in the autumn. And while it continues its rich vein of form, long may the show continue...

Update: we've now learned that it's getting a full 22-episode season 4 order.
